weekend snapshots

Clifton streets, winding roads, rain dropped windows, vanilla lattes, cool windchills, sweat and ltf classes, tukery sandwiches, Norman Rockwell, glittered shows, smokey rooms, long songs, empty parking lots, holding hands, leather jackets, morning runs, peace signs, hills hit with sunshine, midday naps, new books, floral bedding, spinning dreams, hipster boys, driving fast, crystal lights, leaning heads, champagne dreams, car humming symphony, sleepless nights, sweet nothings, neverending energy and love. Hope teenage weekends never end.

Ever have one of those days where it never seems to end? You are going, going, going and it your so busy with so much that it feels like a full month in one day. Yep, I had one of them yesterday...but I like it like that :)

Before school outfit; (dressy in honor of the weekend!) Headed off to schoool and it was all a blur..what can I say. Senioritis.

Then I grabbed Subway with my mom and headed to a doc appointment that went really well. It was rainy and yucky still so I headed to the gym and ran 3.4 miles, did 1 mile on the elliptical and some abs. Then I hustled home to prepare for Friday night festivities!

Mom made a scrumptious chicken curry with cauliflower and basmati rice for a fam din din. It was so yummy! But didn't look too appealing in a photo so opted out of it.

Then the girlies came over to get ready for tonight! My room turned into a closet and the bathroom was the makeup conter as we scurraged through heels, dresses and florals. We finally took off and went Krogering to kill some time..so needless to say, photoshoot @ the grocery store

We headed out listening to old summer tunes and drove fast through the rainy Clifton streets till we found the dayglow and lightsticks and the house that blasted out music and purple syrups. We passed around notes with old friends and ran into new people and familiar faces all throughout the night. High school nights never end, and they swirl into fantasy dreams and spins from the next song to the other on abandoned streets and smokey rooms. We had a great time being silly and young and carefree. Until we finally made it to our beds where we nodded off in a euphoric bliss of love, happiness and daydreams. Today woke to toast and raindrops. As much as I am not looking forward to getting out of my jammies and bed, I needa get to the gym..too many candies and hershey kissess last night, eeks!

Last night was a relaxing end to the day with some music writing and candles. I fell asleep reading and was so sound asleep that morning came way, wayyy too fast.

It's rainy and icky out right now. So I headed down to the basement and sweat it out on the treadmill for 4 miles to feel a little better..and guess what it worked. I feel like a new person.
After I did some homework and organized my desk & room a little bit. Then it was off to do my interview for MBC. I met up with Jeff Alt, a teacher at Mason. He was one of the most interesting people I've interviewed. He is a hiker & has written three award winning books. He first got inspired because his brother is nonverbal and really communicated with nature. It's inspiring to see someone so potive about nature and writing and be so down to earth and friendly. His book, A Walk for Sunshine, is actually number one seller on Amazon right now. And the charity he hikes and raises money for called Sunshine foundation is taking off. After, I helped a girlfriend out and we went to a local cheer squad to film some video for her footage. Being a journalist is so cool, stepping into the lives of other people for a day and seeing what its really like behind the scenes. I love it! It was still grey and rainy out so we decided to get some smoothies to liven it up a bit! A Strawberry 2-piece Bikini from Planet Smoothie. We talked and got lost on rainy streets on the way back, but it was relaxing and fun.

Dinner (630):
-Instant oatmeal with cinnamon, apple bits & key lime yogurt
-grapefruit

Tmrw is another busy, busy day, but TGIF :-) Hope everyone has sweet dreams!

zumba for leukemia

Wow! Today was busy..and its not over yet! During broadcast journalism class, I went across the street to the local park to shoot some footage of the woods for my next story. Got some really cool shots and froze my tush off outside. School was super short and I got out at 10:50 because of some teacher conference thing..I'm not complaining! So I raced to the gym because I had to be back at school at 12:00ish to set up for the Zumba for Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. I did 30 mins on the elliptical (2.5 miles) and a some abs then raced over to Quiznos!

Lunch 1200:
-Turkey & mozarella cheese on 5 in. whole wheat bread
-apple
-special K bar
-LEAN Sobe drink Then it was off to set up for the Zumbathon at school! For NHS last year we started Zumba to raise money for this foundation. This year it grew so much! We had the football team, baseball & softball, lacrosse teams, NHS members and whoever wanted to came and we raised over 2000$!! For 2 straight hours we danced and grooved and sweat in the cafeteria. It was so much fun and so liberating to dance and jump around with all my fellow peers. Giving back by staaying fit is a great way to incorporate excercise into my friends lives

Came home to the smell of oatmeal cookies and snacked on some while I did some pre-calc homework. The rains started to hit my window and I really just wanted to lay in bed and read but I needed to go head out to meet my tutor to catch up on the things I missed while out sick. I made a quick breakfast for din din and headed out. Now all I want to do is lounge on my couch and snuggled with my mini golden doodle :)

Making the most out of Tuesdays

Tuesdays can be drags. They're just there. There's no Friday to look forward to, you just had a Monday..your still getting into the swing of things again. But I try to focus on the positives now. After wasting so much of my life in a tidal wave of worries & stress & restricting, I wasn't living. I was caught up in the mania of my own mind. Now being fully nurished, I can focus, I can think clearly, I can be mindful-not mind full. And its a relief. And I'm beginning to cherish each day more, there's always more to learn, more to grow, more to see.

Breakfast (6:20):
-
English muffin with Dannon greek yogurt & sprinkled cinnimon & sugar
-apple -water -coffee

I headed off to school and had a productive day. Part of National Honor Society, we're raising money for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society-so this week Ive been extra busy with that, along with a new MBC broadcast coming out. Oh, and rehearsing for the talent show & a wedding I'm performing in(more details later). But I like being busy, it keeps me out of my own head.
Lunch (12:20):
-Healthful bread, turkey, salsa, cabbage slaw & mozarella
-apple & carrots on the side
After, I headed to a doctors appointment that went really well. Grabbed a fiber one bar & some fruit & soymilk. Then it was off to the gym! I ran 40 mins., biked 10 mins (2miles), and took a CRT class (Cardio Resistance Training). I worked hard today and feel so great now.

To refuel I carbo loaded @ dinner time:
Dinnner (6:30):
-
Whole wheat pasta from Trader Joe's with marinara sauce & mushrooms
-side salad & carrotts with dressing
-silk milk & water

The rest of the night looks like working on some of my new songs on piano, a nice hot shower and reading on the couch while listening to some Cat Powers or Dido to unwind and some scented candles ;-) Making Tuesday a peaceful one<3

dayglow

Today was a day glow of lights and wind chills and breeze and song. It was grey and cold and we headed into the slides that remind me of summer and breeze and water bottles ffull of wine. We inhaled and exhaled the air around us in a valley of grass and emptied our minds. We watched our city shine and glow and buzz and stood in awe of the metropolis. We pushed through windchills and made it back to the parking lot of cracked pavement filled with grass and litter. And it blew our hair and gave us chills. Huddling into our car and drove the streets of our suburbia in a quiet, tranquil peace. The radio craddled us and we sang along to the words in our hometown glory raods. And we danced and waved to the people passing by and laughed and breathed it all in with nervous jitters & flirty eyes. And now I'm floating over the world. I'm tiptoeing on the lavender high of lov and life and its a perfect bliss of daydreams and peaceful lines of sweet colorful mind spins and laughter. <3

Monday Funday

(Saugatuck, Michigan...take me back!)

Its a gloomy Monday. It's grey & dismal outside, and how I wish I was able to go out and bask in the radiant sun, letting the ocean breeze flow over my body..but nope, not today! After getting pounded on by the pouring rain, I went home to grab some lunch-a turkey sandwich on flatbread with cabbage & mustard & cheese, carrots & apple on the side.
I was feeling tired but knew I'd feel better if I sweat it out so I went down and ran 2.5 miles on the treadmill (about 22mins.) and did 20 minutes of a cardio explosion DVD. I felt much better! I read a little more of Dragon Tattoo and I finally got to the end-yay! While I read I munched on some greek yogurt with sprinkled cinnamin & sugar :-) and enjoyed some chai tea

Then I headed out to audition for the talent show. I sang and original song called Blue. Here's the link to a past performance of it! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m_9cGEtO8Mw&feature=g-upl&context=G29845b8AUAAAAAAANAA
Now I'm waiting on a friend to pick me up and we're going to adventure to make Monday fun day :-)
